Overview
TAI performed the design and RFP development of a High Speed (30 knots) Catamaran Research Vessel for NOAA. TAI won this in response to a competitive solicitation from the NOAA. This included all the classical development of the hull design, Naval Architecture tasks including evaluation and computation of the stability, sea keeping, station keeping, resistance, hull geometry, selecting and sizing machinery, noise control, cost-benefit studies, propulsion system selection, and compliance with environmental and all other regulations. The vessel was an unique and challenging; incorporating light-weight materials for speed, performance, and center of gravity while providing a robust structure.
